This is my life, it's not what it was before! All these feelings I’ve shared, and these are my dreams that I’ve never lived before. Somebody shake me, cause I, I must be sleeping! And now that we're here, so far away, all the struggle we thought was in vain! And all the mistakes one life contained, they all finally start to go away! Long night at the office but every effort is entirely worth it. We've made great strides in bringing down our enemies and I'd like to thank everyone who has added to this effort, even if by simply obeying the implemented laws. Progress. Despite the tragedies that have happened since the New Years Eve ball last year, I feel like my life has improved greatly in the most important ways. As much as the circumstances are not to anyone's liking, my being Minister has been huge to me. It's always been my dream and life long goal to achieve such a position and here I am, fighting a war and hoping to bring the wizarding world into a brighter era.
Family. Things have definitely been going well in this regard. I'm on speaking terms with them again. Yes, nearly entirely all my fault. I think I can even admit this out loud now, though I have yet to do that. It's really great to have them there in my life again. I was a fool to not have let myself know how much I've really needed them there this entire time.
Love. This.. is amazing. I never knew I could feel this way about another person. She literally has opened my life to a whole new world. I could honestly write pages about how I feel for her, which is probably why I can easily say that there aren't enough words to describe this. I love her and I plan on marrying her.

I can hardly believe I've got a dinner date this Friday. I'm trying not to get over excited about it. It's been years since I've invested any time into the dating scene and with this happening I feel like a teenager again. The thrill of the idea has got me a little distracted at work and I'm hoping to just be able to blame it on my lack of dating previous to now. For that, I'll have to wait until after the date and hope that I can concentrate better than I have for the past several days.
Juliet seems very genuine and sweet. Who comes to visit the Minister while he's in the hospital when it isn't in their job description? Clearly she is a caring person and it was something I was surely surprised by but also very grateful for. She seemed honest in her owl response. Merlin, I hope she isn't just agreeing to have dinner with me because I'm the Minister and she feels like she can't say no. I would never want to put her in that position but I couldn't stand another day seeing her at the office and not asking her to dinner. It had really started to keep me awake at night.
The next big question is; what am I going to cook for her?

It's great to know that you're recovering. I was certainly worried when you left my room to go out and meet them head on. I think what you did was incredibly brave and I wish that more people could rise past their fears to stand up and fight when the opportunity arises. I heard what happened in the end and I have to say that what you did was also incredibly foolish; but I imagine that you've heard enough of that by now. If not then please let me know and I will be happy to tell you just how reckless that was. I only ask you to not go at it alone again in the future. I'm sure that you're very aware of the danger of facing him so you must know that you can't do it alone.
Anyway, it is good to know you are getting well and I look forward to being able to speak with you when you are deemed well enough to return to work.

The mess from Halloween it nearly cleared up, all that involves covering the tracks left by the Death Eaters, that is. That section of London is still a disaster. We've helped clean up but there is only so much we can do without it being noticeably 'magically' improved by the muggles in that area. The Ministry continues to work around the clock to bring down the people that continue to harm us.
The deaths and injuries of that Sunday night serve as a sharp reminder of the danger we all face as a community. This is not simply a fight fought between the Ministry and You-Know-Who, this is a fight for all of us to protect our world and our way of living in it. If you value being able to sleep at night without the fear of waking up to danger on your doorstep and if you value the freedoms you now possess then I strongly suggest you arm yourselves with the means to defend your homes, families, and selves. We need to watch out for each other and ensure the safety of our neighbors if we are to be successful in this.
Instructional pamphlets continue to be published through the Daily Prophet. Study them and work together to practice. As much as I would like this to not be necessary and tell you all that the Ministry has to ability to protect you all, that is not the case. We continue to build back toward the Ministry that it used to be and it has been great to see the amount of people who have been willing to apply for jobs within the Ministry to help, but the amount of work the Magical Law Enforcement and Aurors now do means that at times it takes more time than any of us would like for the Ministry to respond to an attack. So please learn or refresh on how to defend yourselves.

Canceling quidditch was necessary, but I know it will have its negative backlash from the fans and players both. So many people were looking forward to the upcoming season. It would have been a good distraction from the dark times we find ourselves in. It just wouldn't justify to dangers we'd be putting people into by allowing it to continue. We cannot protect that amount of people in one place while, at the same time, protecting other things and being prepared for any possible attack that could happen while we'd be pouring our people into guarding the stadiums.
I should have made the decision earlier, before the schedules were made and the preparations that went into everything after that. I kept hoping we'd find the people we needed. I hesitated on making the decision and I'll have to deal with any anger or outrage that comes from that.

Thank you for the recipes. I've been able to make the Irish Stew, the inside out chicken, and some pan seared salmon salad. All delicious and the stew makes a great leftover that I've been bringing with me to work.
I hope everyone has reviewed the protection charms that have been issued and has put them to good use. I also hope that everyone has looked into protective items as well. The Ministry sanctioned items have been given the Ministry seal of approval and any fake, unstable, or dangerous protective items being sold have been made illegal in hope that you all may protect yourselves as well as possible.

You would think I'd be thoroughly loving being Minister, after wanting that end goal for so long. Of course I do love it and if we can ever get through this then I hope to be able to do more than I am now. Nearly everything is focused on ending this threat to our way of life so other things take more of a back seat.
I'm surrounded by people all day and yet when I get home I do all I can to stay busy and keep from thinking how lonely it seems. Being Head of the MLED made things different, I had my final goal to look forward to and maybe I was lonely then too, but I never noticed, because I was constantly thinking of the future. I should be doing the same now that I've reached that goal. There are still things to plan for and futures to look to. I'm just being ridiculous and need to sleep.

I've decided to try my hand with cooking at home again. I've reviewed a few charms to keep the food from going bad if I don't make it home often enough to eat. While I'm fairly good with a few dishes, I'd like to see what other people would suggest. So what's your favorite thing to make?

Please purchase defensive items if you can. They will aid in protecting your lives and in turn the lives of others. There will be pamphlets released in the Daily Prophet as well as Witches Weekly and available at most stores through Diagon Alley and Hogsmead. These pamphlets detail the use and application of protective charms as well as basic offensive spells such as the stupefying charm. Be sure to obtain a copy and practice what is within its pages.

It's hard to say when the stack of papers on my desk have been reduced throughout the day or not. I work furiously all day at it until I have to attend meetings or get pulled away to deal with one problem or another, only to get back to my office and find that there is a new stack. So the new stack gets put beneath the old stack and I work again at it. Then there's the urgent paperwork that gets priority over all else.
For the first time in my life, I'm finding that I can't get a break from work by reading, because reading is exactly the thing that I need a break from.
